I came, I saw, I got beautified.
Actually, I don’t know if “beautified” is an actual word, but I attended the Canyon Ranch Spa Enchant Beauty and Wellness Festival in Lenox, Mass., and it was a full-beauty-palooza of a posh experience, all designed to make you look and feel good.
This typically sold-out and popular week-long celebration in the Berkshires connects beauty brands and beauty-industry leaders with passionate consumer guests – and beauty junkies in particular – at the state-of-the-art spa resort, which he won prizes. The next Enchant weeks will be held in Tucson the week of April 6, 2025, and in Lenox the week of September 24, 2025. The cost is $1,200 per night, and includes, among other things, a spa credit and $200 daily beauty; more than 35 fitness classes per day; and $1,500 in luxury beauty products in your swanky swag bag.
It was a momentary thrill and beauty bonanza. Read the extensive Enchant brochure like a cruise ship itinerary, with tons of fun things to do every hour, all day. Some of the activities included a Welcome Party hosted by Spa Ritual, facials by Australian organic Mukti Skincare, a great lecture by Opulus Beauty Labs (more on that later), a Davines hair assessment, Vitamin-C hand treatments, a trunk show Adoratherapy of their essential oil fragrances, the NIRA laser facial skin tests – and more. Speakers included impressive industry leaders including celebrity makeup artist Sir John (creative director for Kilian Paris Makeup), PVOLVE’s Dani Coleman (and Jennifer Aniston’s trainer), and Rachel Roy, founder of Old India and her daughter, the influential Ava Dash . There was even a blazing bonfire with s’mores. Yum!
And the Gifting Suite! All guests at this event were invited to an amazing giveaway hosted by participating brands, where each registered Enchant guest could make their choice and fill a bag with posh products worth over $1,500 . More than 25 luxury brands were displayed, including Eminence Organics, Hungarian Omorovicza, divi, and Knesko. In fact, Rolls-Royce recently chose the trending skincare brand Knesko as a luxury brand to partner with, featuring Knesko in a unique “120 Years of Rolls-Royce” book distributed to the Rolls-Royce Enthusiast’s Club. (I recently wrote for Forbes.com about Knesko’s adorable face mask pool cart at the elegant, award-winning Halekulani hotel in Waikiki. You can read it here.) Lejla Cas, the founder of Knesko, is a refugee who is replacing her savings to be used for major transformations. -Bash wedding, which is used instead to fund a new start, which has since become a cult favorite of the rich and famous. It’s quite a story.
One of the most interesting companies I discovered was Opulus Beauty Labs, created by scientist Dr. Robb Akridge, who was one of the founders of Clarisonic. The idea for Opulus skin care came to him at a small shop in Paris. And just as French chocolates create hollow milk and dark areas filled with delicious shelf-stable creams, Mr. Akridge has developed cosmetic shells filled with fragile, facial skin concentrates (of B12, Ferulic acid, and Vitamins C and E , for example), which you can put into a small special Activator at home. It thermally blends them in the same way, with a tiny spoonful of water, providing optimal heated skin care for increased product absorption at peak power. Voila! How long does it take? “About 100 seconds – the time it takes to make a Nespresso,” Mr Akridge told me with a smile.
Of course, Canyon Ranch had its regular array of amazing beauty and wellness services that are always available – I had a Biologique Recherche facial (and the neck and scalp massage was amazing); pristine pedicure in the salon; and a seasonal melt-in-your-mouth massage with special agave oil and honey butter.
The gym is always open – and has everything – believe me, everything you need to get fit and stay fit, plus plenty of classes. I’ve probably been to Canyon Ranch about 15 times in the last 25 years, and their gym is, in my humble opinion, one of the best in the world.
I also love, love, love the spa cuisine at Canyon Ranch, where the fat and calories have been removed from all the food, leaving you with a health-conscious and delicious diet. with beautiful fare – and so much of it is vegan. and gluten free. Some of my favorites were the mushroom-walnut pate (162 calories – it was so to die for – I ordered two at dinner); really amazing Colombian Ajiaco soup with chicken, corn and coconut milk (I’m still obsessed with more, 150 calories); and the 97-calorie vegan hot fudge that Canyon Ranch is famous for. (Here’s the recipe – it’s made with white grape juice. I had it on their homemade chocolate ice cream, which to me was better than Carvel.) Executive Chef Julien Ardouin is an impressive Frenchman who worked at The. Ritz Paris – one of the best hotels in the world – for over five years, and after that, at the Mandarin Oriental in Paris. “We try to keep the main courses under 500 calories,” he told me. “I love using seeds, grains and nuts.” One of his inspirations is the French Aligot (cheese mashed potatoes) which weighs in at 94 calories. His signature dish is the Autumn Mushroom and Walnut Bolognese – “I worked hard to balance a vegan dish with a meaty taste.”
Now I’ll tell you what I didn’t like. For the event, Canyon Ranch hired a local caterer to provide some of the lunch items, and I had a chicken salad wrap that was completely disappointing. It was a giant soft taco that was 99% filled with iceberg lettuce and about one ounce of flavorless grilled chicken, with a tiny smear of dressing. Definitely not up to par. These items were served in Culinary Rebel, a small cafe adjacent to the Main Dining Room, where, thankfully, great snacks can also be found – the resort’s signature items including Pumpkin Crunch, homemade trail bars, cookie of the day, hummus with carrots, mixed nuts, Greek yogurt and more, plus pizza.
Sure everything at Canyon Ranch is homemade — Chef Ardouin told me, “Everything is made-from-scratch — the only thing we buy is bagels.”
You can also feed your spirit at Canyon Ranch, which is one of the best things about it. These wellness services include consultations such as “Cultivating a Life of Purpose,” “Negotiating Loss, Grieving and Remembrance,” and “Life Mapping,” although Canyon Ranch’s most popular and unique tour is the “Soul Journey,” which combines his neuroacoustic sound bed with mental practices.
If you make a reservation at Canyon Ranch Lenox, any time of the year, be sure to attend the amazing, life-changing evening lectures by Jerry Posner, the Ranch’s best kept secret. Mr. Posner offers a series of five excellent lectures on topics such as cultivating peace, showing gratitude, and making miracles happen in your life. They are very inspiring.
Finally, all participants received a wonderful daily “Five Minute Journal”, created by Intelligent Change, which harnesses the power of gratitude, promotes happiness, reduces stress, creates snapshots of your positive experiences, and helps you show profound changes i. your life It could just be your magic weapon to create miracles. Each day asks you specifically about your affirmations, goals, and lessons learned. I have already completed five days and it is a powerful tool that helps you initiate change from within. (I love writing in it, because it positively motivates you to live your best life. I’ve been journaling daily for over 60 years – and my guess, how do you think I’m fading Forbes writing about luxury spas around the world? LOL.) Apparently Will Smith, Jim Carrey and Arnold Schwarzenegger got great value there too!
To put it succinctly, Canyon Ranch is your “om-away from home.”
